During the mid 1960’s a little known rock and blues band from Austin, Texas, was developing a unique sound like none ever heard on top 40 radio. With Roky Erickson’s screaming vocals, Stacy Sutherland’s burning guitar, and Tommy Hall’s eerie sounding jug, the 13th Floor Elevators were truly the originators of what would become known as the psychedelic sound. Their song lyrics, often referring to a search for higher consciousness, were nothing short of pure poetry. The Elevators dissolved after recording only three albums but their influence would be felt for years to come thoughout the world of rock music.

The Fly Guys are not new to the music of the 13th Floor Elevators. Don Hallock and Frank Brothers were both raised in central Texas listening to, and even attending live performances by this legendary band in the 1960’s. Both have played in other local bands and are now making studio recordings.

With highest regard for the original artists, The Fly Guys have attempted to recreate the sound and spirit of the 13th Floor Elevators’ incredible music.
